In grief, We stand on a precipice Afraid to embrace the silence, Afraid that we will fall. For this, we create noise. Noise in our lives, Noise in our minds, Noise in our hearts, Believing that the noise Will hold off the silence And keep us from falling into The darkness of despair Where all hope disappears Into an eternal void. But that is all an illusion. The simple truth is that In the silence We hear the voice of God As he pulls us back from the precipice. When we allow our own noise Our own fears, To mask the voice of God, We cannot hear Him calling us back to hope. “Be still, and know that I am God” 1 “Be still, for this is a holy day. Do not grieve.” 2 “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.” 3 Embrace the silence And listen to the oh, so gentle voice of God As he heals broken hearts, As he heals broken spirits, As he draws us close And brings peace to our souls. Be still and heal. Rev Walt 1 Psalms 16:10 2 Zechariah 2:13 3 Matthew 5:4 |
