Anger
Unrequited Anger
Erupts in violence.

Like a steam engine
With no release
No valve to give it rest
No work to ease the stress
The steam and gases build
Expand until the rivets… POP!
Exploding parts and plates
In every direction
Without discretion
And bring destruction
To those in witness.

So it is
That anger builds.
Expanding upon itself
Seeking release through
Pleasure, pain or passion.
A storm gathered
Contained
Restrained
Expanding beyond
The vessel of self
Until the rivets… POP!
Exploding hate and violence
In every direction
Without discretion
Raining destruction
On each and every witness.

No justification,
Only slaughter.
No bell of warning
Could be heard.
Through covered ears.
We blame the water
But not the fire.
Forgetting that it is the flames
That turned the waters of the soul
Into steam,
We seek to punish
The unpunishable
And ignore the spark.

Until we understand
The nature of fire
We cannot contain
Cannot restrain
The steam.
So focused on the gasses
We fail to see what passes
As ignorance and injustice
In a world teeming
With hapless engines
Driven to despair
And insurrection
Just to find relief.

The Great Machinist
Has a plan
To save each soul
And make us whole
Providing all we need
To understand
And find compassion,
Seek out the source
And quench the flames
With the living water
Of Jesus Christ
Whose love, life,
And sacrifice
Can douse the hottest flame.
Bringing peace
To a world erupting
In chaos.
He turns the steam
To water
To be shared with
One another.
Endless bounty
Endless blessing
No rivets… POP!
But Joy rains down
On all around
Through grace
And boundless love.
